Our Private Client solicitors can help clients with a wide variety of matters and work closely with the firm's residential Conveyancers to provide a full service tailored to our clients' needs.
We are able to advise on preparing your will and changing your will as well as tax and estate planning and we are proud to have been able to help many clients not only in the Windsor, Slough and Ascot areas but clients from further afield. Although the Chancellor has allowed the surviving spouse to make use of the un-used nil rate band of the first in the couple to die, many estates will still be taxable because of the continuing rise of house prices, especially in London and the South East. It remains sensible for clients to consider tax planning when taking advice about their Wills.
We can deal with estate administration from beginning to end or provide assistance to lay-executors with the administration of an estate. The department has experience of creating trusts and managing the administration of several long-running family trusts and is in a position to advise clients in respect of trusts (either during a client's lifetime or in their Will).
We can also act as executors.
We can create Lasting Powers of Attorney ("LPA") to provide protection in the future for clients who become vulnerable. We recommend that all clients consider whom they would want to manage their affairs on their behalf in the event of them becoming incapable and create an LPA dealing with this. Alternatively if a person becomes mentally incapable and has not created an LPA we can help with the application to appoint a Deputy.
One of our partners will be happy to be appointed attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney. Our Private Client solicitors are very happy to visit clients in their own homes or to see clients in either the Windsor or Slough offices of the firm.
